Building in the Deep Desert — Worth It or Not?

A lot of players I talk to wonder if it’s worth building in the deep desert at all. My answer? Absolutely — as long as you’re prepared. The biggest draw is that all your build costs are halved compared to setting up shop closer to safe zones. That means your refineries, fabricators, and even basic shelters are faster and cheaper to get online.

Of course, it comes with risks. The storms reset the map every week, so you have to be ready to pack up and move your operation regularly. And you’re always going to be vulnerable to players who roam the deep desert looking for easy targets. But if you’re organized and cautious, the benefits far outweigh the risks. I’ve saved huge amounts of time and resources by making the deep desert my base of operations.
